Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 200 - 980 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic and Western Indian Ocean: Angola to Mozambique.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 113-121; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 89-97
Biology:  Common species (Ref. 34024). Adults feed on pelagic crustaceans (Ref. 27637). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
