Description: Characterized by bluish grey to brownish color grading to white ventrally; head length 9-10 in TL; tubular and elongate body and tail; greatest body depth 45-54 in TL; origin of dorsal fin 1.0-1.5 head length behind anus; dorsal and anal fins confluent with caudal fin; no pectoral fins; more or less pointed snout projecting beyond lower jaw; anterior tubular nostrils about two-thirds eye diameter; edge of upper lip with small dermal papilla between anterior nostrils; small eye, posterior edge well anterior to corner of mouth; small gill opening below midlateral position; single row of small conical teeth in jaws; vomer without teeth (Ref. 90102). |
Inhabits sand bottoms in vicinity of coral reefs (Ref 90102). |
