Schismatogobius risdawatiae is distinguished by the following characters: pectoral fin usually with 16 rays; pectoral fins with a broad dorsal black band; membrane in first dorsal fin posterior to spine 6 partly connected to base of spine of second dorsal fin in male and not in female; ventral surface of head in male brownish, frenum slightly pigmented; ventral surface of head in female whitish with a blackish border and a white mentum; and frenum and pelvic disk whitish (Ref. 116448). |
This species was collected in freshwater streams with moderate to fast flow, in shallow areas with gravel and boulders, just above the tidal influence at elevation ranging from 16 to 45 m (Ref. 116448). |
