Diagnosis: |
Distinguished from its congeners in Balkan Peninsula by the combination of the following characters: 40-43 scales along lateral line; anal fin with 10½ branched rays; 10-13 gill rakers; dorsal head profile straight, snout pointing forward, tip at or slightly below level of middle eye; back not humped behind nape; eye not close to dorsal head profile when viewed laterally; articulation of lower jaw below or in front anterior margin of eye; lower head profile with a conspicuous angle at articulation of lower jaw; head length 28-32% SL; body depth 28-38% SL; caudal peduncle depth 10-11% SL; and all fins grey in adults larger than 6 cm SL (Ref. 59043). |
