Family:  Danionidae (Danios), subfamily: Chedrinae
Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal (Ref. 4832). Reported from Afghanistan (Ref. 41034).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Usually found in slow running streams (Ref. 4832). Adults occur in rivers, ponds, beels and inundated fields. Are surface feeders on larvae and adults of insects (Ref. 1479).

Threat to humans:  harmless
