Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi and upper Shire River.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: teeth rather long and widely-spaced; premaxillary pedicel and jaws relatively short; eye rather small; cheek depth relatively large (Ref. 55949). Description: small, slender and streamlined; snout acutely pointed; mouth small; jaws delicate; teeth slender, curved and rather widely-spaced (Ref. 55949).
Biology:  Found at fairly deep levels of the open water. Piscivorous (Ref. 5595).
