Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Aek Sibundung, Batang Toru, and Batang Gadis Rivers (Sumatra) and a tributary draining to Lake Toba in Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 32-33. Diagnosed from other species of Rasbora by the following combination of characters: supra-anal pigmentation absent; the black midlateral stripe is only represented by a rectangular subdorsal blotch without a midhumeral diffuse patch and the posterior-portion stripe; and the basicaudal blotch appearing somewhat oval and lacking the basicaudal triangular patch (Ref. 94947). Description: Dorsal-fin rays i, 7½; anal-fin rays ii, 5½; pectoral-fin rays i, 11-13; pelvic-fin rays i, 8; basicaudal blotch relatively distinct (Ref. 94947).
Biology:  Inhabits mountain streams and moderate-flowing turbid rivers with gravel bottom. Sympatric with Rasbora api (Ref. 94947).
