Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range - 1070 m
Distribution:  Southern Atlantic: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal soft rays: 19-19; Vertebrae: 54-54. This species of the subgenus Trachinostomias is distinguished by the following characters: pectoral fin with 2 rays; a long postorbital organ (5.8% SL); vertebrae 54; a small number of photophores OV and PV; body without spots of white luminous tissue; jaw teeth of different size; mental barbel of a simple structure, very short (1.6% SL) and devoid of bulbs and any appendages, hooked at the top (Ref. 125184).
