Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Upper Green, middle Cumberland, and Tennessee River drainages in Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, USA.
Diagnosis:  Phenacobius uranops resembles the riffle minnow, P. catostomus, but can be distinguished by having more elongated body, longer snout, more elliptical eye, 52-61 scales on lateral line, and 13-16 scales around caudal peduncle (Ref. 86798).
Biology:  Inhabits gravel and rubble runs and riffles of clear, fast creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feeds on dipteran and caddis larvae (Ref. 10294).
