Family:  Poeciliidae (Poeciliids), subfamily: Poeciliinae
Max. size:  2.58 cm SL (male/unsexed); 4.52 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: coastal drainages flowing to Baia de Guaratuba and Baia de Paranaguá in Paraná, Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal soft rays: 9-11; Vertebrae: 30-32. Diagnosed from all other species of the genus Phalloceros by having a very large papilla at the mandibular symphysis of large adult females (Ref. 76852). Description: Pectoral fin with 6-7 branched rays; longitudinal series of scales 27-29; transverse series of scales 7 (Ref. 76852).
