Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Inhambane, Mozambique to Port Alfred, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 29-33; Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-5; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 20-22. Color variable in shades and markings of brown, red, yellow, green, mottled and marbled; preserved specimens uniform buff (Ref. 5496).
Biology:  Found in weedy tide pools.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 06 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
