Family:  Parascorpididae (Jutjaws)
Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 20 - 200 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from Maputo, Mozambique to False Bay, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 11-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-17; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 13-15. Grey-brown in color.
Biology:  Feeds on zooplankton. Rarely caught by anglers. Flesh is good to taste (Ref. 6641).
