Diagnosed from congeners by having the following characters: blunt snout, rostral cap hidden by upper lip in ventral view; lateral line with 41-50 + 3 scales; body depth 4.4-5.6 times in SL; caudal peduncle depth 1.9-2.2 times in its length; 16-23 gill rakers; and usually 6-5 pharyngeal teeth (Ref. 59043). |

Inhabits stretches with swift current. Can survive in still water but needs access to flowing waters to spawn. Spawning occurs on gravel to stone bottom (Ref. 59043). |
