Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Distinguished from other congeners by the following unique combination of characters: last simple ray of dorsal fin flexible and unserrated; squamation: lateral-line scales always 41-44 (modally 42) and predorsal scales 12-14 (modally 12); maxillary barbels 9.7-12.4 % (mean 11.2 %) in head length; rostral cap with thick upper lip and lower part of upper lip exposed; and coloration of young individuals (<75 mm SL) with random grayish-black spots near lateral-line scales (Ref. 92993). |
This species occurs in small tributaries in mountain areas where it inhabits running brooks with large rocks as well as slow-flowing pool with pool bed consisting of mud and aquatic plants (Ref. 92993). |
