Max. size:  7.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Cape Fear drainage near Fall Line, Chatham and Harnett counties, North Carolina, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy and rocky pools and runs of small to medium rivers. Highly specialized detritus and plant eating species. With long coiled dark gut, a feature it shares with no other shiner but Notropis nubilus; dark peritoneum (Ref. 5723).
