Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  7.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 50 m
Distribution:  North America: Red (Mississippi River basin) and Calcasieu River (Gulf Slope) drainages to Brazos River drainage in southwestern Arkansas, southeastern Oklahoma, western Louisiana and eastern Texas, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy and rocky runs and pools of creeks and small to medium rivers, usually in shallow water (Ref. 5723). Feeds on dipterans, ephemeropterans, tricopterans, coleopterans, and odonats (Ref. 79012).
