Family:  Galaxiidae (Galaxiids), subfamily: Galaxiinae
Max. size:  12.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, amphidromous
Distribution:  Oceania: Northern, western and southeastern coasts of Tasmania; also from Flinders Island in Bass Strait and Wilson's Promontory, Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in swamps, drains and ponds. The species is likely capable of aestivation as individuals are sometimes encountered in mud or beneath logs or stones when pools dry up. Feeds partly on bottom detritus and insects.
