Dorsal spines (total): 17-19; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Nanochromis teugelsi is characterized by the absence of scales on nape, cheeks, and chest, but is has a fully scaled opercle (Ref. 57723). It has an elevated upper lateral line, with about half or more contiguous with the dorsal-fin base; it has 15-23 upper lateral-line scales and 4-8 lower lateral-line scales (Ref. 57723). It is also characterized by the absence of a supraneural bone (Ref. 57723). |
