Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs in the west coast of the southeast arm of and northern part of the lake.
Diagnosis:  Description: molariform pharyngeal dentition (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow water off sandy beaches and feeds on mollusks (Ref. 267).
