Family:  Pleuronectidae (Righteye flounders), subfamily: Microstominae
Max. size:  47 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 41 - 1800 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: Japan to the Gulf of Alaska and to Mexican border.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 109-117; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 95-98. Dorsal origin over posterior edge of pupil. Caudal imperfectly rounded. Pectorals short.
Biology:  Found on mud bottoms (Ref. 2850).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 17 September 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
