Diagnosis: |
Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-6. This species is distinguished by the following characters: no prickles on interspaces of bucklers; an extremely short rostrum (x? = 4.1% SL) directed upward rather than forward; large eye (x? = 15.4% SL); narrow interorbital space (x? = 5.5% SL); OD/RL = 2.4-5.3 and OD/IO = 2.4-3.2; body with a few scattered bucklers, with interspaces largely naked on dorsal surface; ventral surface with few flat bucklers, mostly restricted to around pelvic-fin base, and almost naked elsewhere (Ref. 124115). |
