Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Corinae
Max. size:  11.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 40 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: northern Natal in South Africa, Mauritius and RĂ©union; might also occur in Madagascar and Rodriguez (Ref. 2694).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Females: body brown with round blue spot on each scale; head yellow to brownish yellow with dark-edged blue bands (Ref. 4392). Males: body and caudal fin brownish yellow with dark-edged blue spots; head dull orange-yellow with dark edged blue bands (Ref. 4392).
