Family:  Pleuronectidae (Righteye flounders), subfamily: Hippoglossinae
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 25 - 800 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Alsek Canyon, southeastern Alaska to Isla Cedros, central Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 72-78; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 57-65; Vertebrae: 42-46. Dorsal origin over anterior part of upper eye. Caudal rounded. Pectorals small and narrow.
Biology:  Occurs in the vicinity of rocky areas (Ref. 4925). Good food fish but is of little commercial importance due to its small size (Ref. 6885).
