Family:  Trichiuridae (Cutlassfishes), subfamily: Lepidopodinae
Max. size:  79 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 270 - 350 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: known only from type locality at Colahan Seamount of Hawaiian Submarine Ridge (31°01'N, 175°53'W).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 91-93; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 44-47; Vertebrae: 98-100. Second anal fin spine stout and spur-like. Body dark brown, becoming lighter ventrally; the opercle black, inside of the mouth and gill cavities black.
Biology:  Maximum standard length recorded only from 3 specimens.
