Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 62-72; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 39-46. Pelvic fins of females with 6 soft rays, absent in males (Ref. 6600). No true gill rakers (Ref. 27363). Dark brown or pale in male and black or dark brownish black in female (Ref. 37473). |

Mesopelagic in depths exceeding 500 m (Ref. 7249) and bathypelagic (Ref. 58302). Females undergo diel vertical migrations (Ref. 7249). |
