Family:  Gerreidae (Mojarras)
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 1 - 22 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to Indonesia and New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Similar to G. filamentosus with the long filament on the dorsal fin but instead of spots, it has bars along the sides (Ref. 48635).
Biology:  Occurs in shallow inshore coastal waters on sandy bottoms and in estuaries. Maintain discrete, single species' schools (Ref. 13682).

Threat to humans:  harmless
