Eumicrotremus asperrimus (Tanaka, 1912)

Family:  Cyclopteridae (Lumpfishes), subfamily: Eumicrotreminae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 900 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Bering Sea from about 61°N to Pacific Ocean south of Unimak Pass, southern Sea of Okhotsk, southern Sea of Japan, and Pacific Ocean off Hokkaido.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-11. Head and body covered with numerous bony tubercles; first dorsal fin very low, covered with thick skin, but tips of rays projecting above a row of small bony tubercles (Ref. 559).
