Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  4.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: known only from the type locality: Alto Cuilo, Kwilu/Cuilo River (Kasai drainage, middle Congo River basin) in Angola (Ref. 11970). Reported from the upper Zambezi in Zambia by R.A. Jubb, but specimens not verified (Ref. 11970); presence in the upper Zambezi unconfirmed in Ref. 120641.
Diagnosis:  Description: Lateral line scales 30 (Ref. 122753).
Biology:  Maximum TL was recorded at 6.2 cm (Ref. 2801).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 16 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
