Environment:  bathypelagic; marine
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: New Zealand. Eastern Central Pacific: from about 25°N to 15°S (Ref. 31442). Northwest Pacific: Larvae collected from Taiwan Strait (Ref. 43570).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-13; Vertebrae: 31-33. Branchiostegal rays: 13-15.
Biology:  Epipelagic to mesopelagic (Ref. 31442) at ≥ 90 m (Ref. 58302). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 31442).
