Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  5.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 35 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: from the Ryukyu Is., Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 22-23; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 14-14. Description: Characterized by male having orange red color anteriorly grading to crimson or purple posteriorly with fine, blue scale margins; female having purplish grey on head grading to brown or reddish posteriorly; cheek with blue-margined orange bar; anterodorsal portion of body with dark blue scale margins; anterior lateral-line scales 24-31; depth of body 26.9-30.6 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Collected on reef slopes and reef surge channels (Ref. 81967). Solitary or in pairs (Ref 90102).
