Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Cynoglossinae
Max. size:  32 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 183 - 293 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Kenya to the western Cape Province, South Africa. Reported from Namibia (Ref. 27121).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 116-124; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 92-103. 3 lateral lines on eyed side, none on blind side.
Biology:  A shallow-water species, mainly found on sandy bottoms (Ref. 27121). Feeds on small invertebrates (Ref. 5213).

Threat to humans:  harmless
