Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: South Carolina, USA and northeastern Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. More northern records erroneous. Absent in oceanic areas of the Caribbean Sea (Ref. 13628).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 13-13
Biology:  Found in very shallow, muddy bottoms of coastal waters (Ref. 13628). Sometimes found in the intertidal zone (Ref. 13628). Euryhaline species (Ref. 13628).
