Family:  Synanceiidae (Stonefishes), subfamily: Choridactylinae
Max. size:  15.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 26 - 33 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 9-9; Vertebrae: 27-27. Head, body and fins dark; sides of the body with numerous narrow light contrasting longitudinal strips, running to the dorsal and caudal fins. Pectoral fin with no long, threadlike upper ray; inner side is dark, without the large light longitudinal patches on the central part of the fin and has no alternating dark and light longitudinal strips (Ref. 41472).
