Distribution: |
Africa: Benue River (middle Niger River basin) in Nigeria and Cameroon (Ref. 13094, 57223). Also reported from the Chad basin (Ref. 57223). |
Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6. Diagnosis: labial disk rather small, ovoid, with very large barbels; up to 3 auxiliary mandibular barbels on either side of lower lip; main outer
mandibular barbel without lateral auxiliary barbel; mandibular teeth numbering 4+4 to 7+7; adipose fin long, beginning distinctly ahead of anal-fin origin; caudal fin slightly forked, with unequal lobes (lower lobe longer than upper); eyes large; no sexual dimorphism known; caudal peduncle slightly elongate (Ref. 57223).
Coloration: no particular colour pattern; similar to that of other Chiloglanis species (Ref. 57223). |
