Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Triglinae
Max. size:  50.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 170 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: southern coasts of the British Isles to Mauritania, the Azores and Madeira; Mediterranean but absent in northern Aegean Sea and Black Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Benthic on the continental shelf in 77 m; inhabits soft bottoms and fallen rocks (Ref. 4697). Minimum depth range from Ref. 121790.

Threat to humans:  harmless
