Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-14; Anal soft rays: 13-13. This species is distinguished by the following: D III. D2 14: A 13; in males, the first dorsal fin has the second spine elongate and filamentous and the second dorsal fin very low, without filaments; opercular spine in subopercular spine 1.8-2.4; the body slightly compressed, body depth 7.4-8.5% of SL, body width 7.7-8.8% of SL; pectoral fin is short and not reaching to anus when adpressed, pectoral fin length 9.9-11.8% of SL; body colour pattern in males pale, with a single grey spot on the beginning of the lower lateral line; filament of first dorsal fin pale, fin with a large basal dark blotch; anal fin with three dark blotches in males (Ref. 105116). |
Collected with dredge from a sand bottom, together with the lophiid Lophiomus setigerus
(Vahl, 1797), the cynoglossid Paraplagusia sp., and the hoplichthyid Hoplichthys citrinus Gilbert, 1905 (Ref. 105116). |
