Max. size:  66 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 71 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 10 - 500 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to southern Australia, from off Lancelin, Western Australia to Bass Strait.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A temperate species (Ref. 7300) occurring on rocky reefs and muddy substrates of the continental shelf and upper slopes (Ref. 9563), singly or in pairs (Ref. 79654).
