Diagnosis: deeper bodied than B. rhoadesii, B. spectabilis and B. lepturus, and with a large part of the oblique dark lateral band, posterior to the level of the anal fin origin, situated below the upper part of the lateral line; larger interorbital than B. heterotaenia (Ref. 55954).
Coloration: subadults: orange color on pelvic fins, anal fin and lower part of caudal fin (Ref. 55954). |
Stays at an average depth of 10 m in offshore sandy beaches and chases juvenile sand-dwelling cichlids over the open sand (Ref. 5595). |
