Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 10 - 40 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to southern part of Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in small groups over open sand and preys on small sand-dwelling haplochromines (Ref. 5595). Hunts in pairs or in large groups (Ref. 3817).

Threat to humans:  harmless
