Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 12-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11. Black band encircling body posteriorly oriented vertically in adults, almost as broad below lateral line as above; posterior edge of band not reaching past posterior edge of hypurals ventrally (Ref. 9823). |
Biology: |
Adults inhabit exposed seaward reefs with sand patches (Ref. 9710). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). |
