Max. size:  8.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 3 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: northern Australia, from Western Australia to Queensland.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 49-53; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 38-43; Vertebrae: 56-59. Gill membranes fused ventrally to isthmus. Shoulder with an ocellated, black, eye-sized spot. Lateral line short with 9.7 (6-14) pored scales.
Biology:  Found in intertidal pools to 3 m. Feeds mainly on crustaceans. Eggs with cruciform hooks on the surface.
