Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 30
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi, Eccles Reef.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Mainly found over sand bordering the rocky reef. Feeds on small sand-dwelling invertebrates (Ref. 5595). Females mouthbrood eggs (Ref. 6020).
