Family:  Antigoniidae (Deepbody boarfishes)
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 50 - 750 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Japan to Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 27-30; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 24-28. Gill rakers on first gill arch short, broad, and well separated. Third fin dorsal spine 25-32%SL. Attains 15 cm SL (P. Heemstra, personal communication 10/02).
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf (Ref. 75154). Larvae are pelagic (Ref. 68964).
