Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  12.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 12 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Andaman Islands (North Button Island).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 13-13; Vertebrae: 26-26. Description: Characterized by mainly silver grey body color; dorsal fin, pelvic fins and most anal fins yellow in color; upper and lower edge on caudal fin, blackish; presence of black spot dorsally on base of pectoral fin; dorsal rays XIII,12; anal rays II,13; pectoral rays 17; gill rakers on first brachial arch 7-8+15-18, total rakers 22-26; tubed lateral line scales 14-16; scaled preorbital and suborbital; vertical scale rows 28; scales above lateral line to base of middle dorsal spines 1.5; scales below lateral line to anus 9-10; circumpeduncular scales 12; vertebrae 26. Body depth 1.7-1.8 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits sheltered waters with extensive colonies of branching corals at depths of about 2-12 m. Dead coral branches serves as nest (Ref. 90102).
