Bigelow & Schroeder, 1948 (Ref. 34302:398), considered C. cerdale a junior synonym; this work was so authoritative that subsequent authors generally accepted the synonymy eventhough these spp are morphologically different. However, the first error is probably attributable to Meek and Hildebrand (1923) when their statement that C. cerdale was found in both sides of the Isthmus of Panama engendered the errors that followed. |
