Africa: Congo River basin in Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 74421) and Zambia (Ref. 52959). Type locality in Ogowe is questionable as no other specimens are known from Ogowe drainage (Ref. 74421); considered a strictly Congo basin species in Ref. 80290. Reports from Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 4967) and Malagarasi (Ref. 36901, 93960) need confirmation.
